Communications Minister Stephen Conroy was answering an AAP question about the risk for investment in Australia at the National Press Club in Canberra that was being shown live on the ABC today.

"In terms of sovereign risk, I love the debate about sovereign risk," he said.

Minister's TV gaffe starts a Twitstorm

WITH a slip of the tongue on daytime television yesterday, Stephen Conroy joined a long list of public figures to utter inopportune expletives.

Australians have been subjected to shitstorms, silly old buggers and ratf---ers by their politicians but it was the unglamorous topic of sovereign risk that had the Communications Minister dropping the f-bomb on ABC television.

''If a tax goes up, God, that is sovereign risk. But if a tax goes down, that's f---in' fantastic,'' he said in a National Press Club broadcast, before adding, ''excuse me, that is fantastic.''
