| The trial of Italian Premier Silvio Berlusconi on charges he paid for sex with an underage prostitute, then tried to use his influence to cover it up was adjourned shortly after it began in Milan.
Neither Berlusconi nor the woman involved, Moroccan-born Karima El Mahroug, who goes by the stage name Ruby the Heartstealer, attended Wednesday's hearing, which lasted seven minutes.
Berlusconi, who was holding a ministerial meeting in Rome to discuss Libya, has denied any wrongdoing.
After dealing with a few procedural matters, the judge adjourned the trial until May 31.
Security was tight around the courthouse in downtown Milan with with about 100 police officers patrolling. TV crews and media representatives from around the world were also on hand.
