| Subject: More statist insanity: Students Fined $86K In Connection With House Party Thu Oct 07, 2010 7:33 pm | |
| Three University of Wisconsin students are facing more than $86,000 in fines for what could be one of the most expensive beer parties in history. Police showed up at the Madison students' house party last month and found a couple hundred guests paying $5 per cup. The students were cited with more than 130 charges, including dispensing alcohol without a permit and supplying alcohol to underage drinkers.
Police say they hope the fine will send a message to other students planning similar-size parties. "We're not proud of our actions that night," one of the students tells Channel 3000. "It's not going to happen again. We've learned our lesson, and it was a one-time thing. But to teach you a lesson with a $90,000 fine seems a little extreme." The trio may be able to strike a deal to have most of the fine waived if they stay out of trouble for the rest of the year.
