| ASYLUM seekers from Afghanistan, Sri Lanka and Iran were last night settling in to their new accommodation at the West Australian outback town of Leonora, as the government considered transferring more.
Aircraft carrying 87 men, women and children touched down in the small goldmining town just after the community had packed up its annual fair, the Leonora Golden Gift.
The group of 21 families, originally held on Christmas Island, arrived after a weekend of athletics and two-up in the town.
The manager of Leonora Recreation and Aquatic Centre, Lee Jeavons, said he would work with the Immigration Department to keep asylum seekers active with basketball, indoor soccer and ''kindie gyms'' for young children.
