Motorists driven round the bend

ROAD rage has nothing on the fury of Sydney motorists convinced they are being ripped off - especially when they never knew they were breaking any law.

The Herald's revelation that people can be booked for staying too long in parking spots, even when they shift their cars before the time is up, enraged readers.

Our website was bombarded with comments from more than 200 angry people yesterday.

"Everyone just wants to rip off the public, speed cameras everywhere, and now this," said one. Another said: "It's time Government-run services stopped making rules that make us all criminals."

Yesterday's Herald reported how a woman had been booked for overstaying in a two-hour limit, even though she had moved her car to another street.

However she still received a Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority ticket. The State Debt Recovery Office rejected her appeal, saying: "While a vehicle may be moved to a different spot, if it remains within the overall parking sector the time limit does not recommence." :Grrr:
