| Montana's highest court today cleared the way for doctors to help their terminally ill patients commit suicide. Physicians who do so can't be prosecuted, says the ruling, which makes Montana the third state to legalize the practice after Oregon and Washington, notes Bloomberg. “We find nothing in Montana Supreme Court precedent or Montana statutes indicating that physician aid in dying is against public policy,” says the state's Supreme Court.
(Montana law) explicitly shields physicians from liability for acting in accordance with a patient’s end-of life wishes, even if the physician must actively pull the plug on a patient’s ventilator. - Montana Supreme Court
