| While idiotic women's groups seek to have club shut down
A controversial club preaching the benefits of men taking multiple wives is growing fast in Indonesia. Polygamy is legal but tightly controlled in the Muslim nation. Now the "Global Ikhlwan" club aims to make it more mainstream. Members, both male and female, hail the benefits of polygamy and say the club exists to support people struggling with the choice.
"There are a lot of advantages for women in polygamous marriages," one woman in a polygamous marriage tells the BBC. "We learn how to control our desires and their jealousies, and this brings us closer to Allah." Women's groups—some of which argue that the Koran's teachings on marriage have been misinterpreted—are seeking to close down the club. The government is allowing it to remain for now but plans to closely monitor its activity.
There are so many advantages. For men, it teaches us leadership. If it difficult to manage one wife in a marriage—but four? It is much more difficult and it is a good educational practice. - Rizdam, an Indonesian man with four wives
