THE State Government is increasing from 48 to more than 100 the number of pubs and clubs that will have to take specific steps to curb violence on their premises.

Today it will publish a list of permanent restrictions that some venues will have to adopt.

The Government is extending its crackdown on alcohol-fuelled violence in pubs and clubs by compelling venues that record more than eight assaults in a year to tighten alcohol and security management.

Venues that record more than 19 violent assaults in a year will continue to face the toughest restrictions. These include a 2am lockout, a 10-minute break in service every hour and a ban on glassware after midnight.
