| A three-month gun amnesty in NSW has netted more than 4,300 weapons, including 3,000 rifles.
NSW Police Minister Tony Kelly said the firearms amnesty, which ran from March 1 until May 31, had resulted in 4,323 firearms being handed in.
Under the amnesty, those with a gun licence but unregistered weapons were able to register them.
People without a gun licence were able to surrender their firearms without penalty to any police station.
The weapons handed in included 3,173 rifles, 937 shotguns and 213 handguns.
Police also received 90 replica firearms, 1,034 rounds of ammunition, 219 firearms parts and 153 telescopic sights during the amnesty.
