| How about we drop the pretence that the state school system has any responsibility to provide further endorsement of a student's home-brand religion ("Religious education should be dropped from high school", April 26)?
Other countries who share our religious and moral beliefs have had no difficulty in separating church and state (education). Religious classes are not allowed and they have not fallen into a moral malaise.
There is a bigger issue at stake: only teaching children to reinforce an existing religion with which they are already familiar allows for ignorance of the other to fester. And ignorance breeds fear, resentment, and ultimately, hatred.
