Two NYPD cops needed hazard pay Tuesday after watching a funeral procession for a Brooklyn rabbi.
One officer was struck in the head by a plummeting drone and the other’s leg was run over by the hearse carrying the spiritual leader’s body, officials said.
The officers were on the procession route by 14th Ave. and 58th St. in Borough Park when a drone flying above the crowd suddenly ran out of gas.
“When it landed, it hit an officer in the head,” NYPD Chief of Patrol Rodney Harrison told reporters during a press conference in East New York.
The NYPD Community Affairs officer was not seriously hurt. The drone operator told police that he was trying to land the drone on a rooftop, but wasn’t proficient at flying it.
