| Subject: UK: Labour's union donations plunge to an 18-year low as the Tories rake in £21.7mil in 2018 Wed Feb 27, 2019 3:42 pm | |
| Trade union donations to Labour plunged to an 18-year-low in 2018, official figures revealed today.
The total of £6.5 million received from the party's traditional backers was the lowest in any year since Electoral Commission records started in 2001.
The commission revealed donation totals for the final three months of last year, which showed Theresa May's Conservatives taking in almost £7.4 million - more than four times the amount to Jeremy Corbyn's party.
The figures mean that over the course of 2018 Conservatives took in donations totalling more than £21 million, compared with £7 million for Labour and £2.8 million for the Lib Dems.
