| It's not often that country kids outperform their city cousins, and even rarer that they eclipse Sydney's selective school students. But a group of kids scattered across the far reaches of the state have done just that.
Aurora College, a virtual selective school set up almost four years ago to bridge the educational gap between the city and the bush, has been such a success that it will be expanded to trial a year six opportunity class.
Its NAPLAN results are excellent, and in the VALID program, a state-wide assessment of improvement in science from year eight to 10, "we outperformed every other selective school in the state," said principal Chris Robertson.
