Funny: A Mariachi Band Plans To Serenade Aaron Schlossberg With ‘La Cucaracha’

A GoFundMe was set up Wednesday to raise money to send a mariachi band to the law office of Aaron Schlossberg, who was in the news yesterday after a video circulated of him harassing customers for not speaking English and threatening to call immigration agents on the deli’s Spanish-speaking employees.
The organizer, Alt Immigration, exceeded its $500 goal, raising $1,069 in 14 hours. In an update, it wrote that a local New York City mariachi band agreed to perform for free, and that donations were no longer needed.
On Thursday afternoon, a spokesperson from Alt Immigration said organizers were still working out details of the event designed to needle Schlossberg.
It was originally planned for Friday afternoon, but it may be pushed to early next week. They said it might be shifted to outside the deli where the incident took place.
Along with the band, a taco truck is in the works, too. They don’t plan to publicize the event and are keeping details secret.
The campaign reads: “We are requesting the band to sing the famous, endearing, and warm Spanish children’s song, La Cucaracha, the cockroach. We are countering hate and racism with the sound of music. Any leftover money will be used to send a delicious Taco Truck lunch to the staff and a copy of all federal and state statute mentioning undocumented immigrants do not qualify for welfare.”
Twitter has been abuzz with backlash, and users have been diligent in trashing Schlossberg’s internet presence.
His law firm’s Google page received nearly 3,000 one-star reviews, many of them attesting to Schlossberg’s alleged virulent racism. His firm’s Yelp page currently has over 2,000 one-star reviews. Users posted photo-shopped images of Schlossberg in a sombrero, or simply tagged pictures of Mexican food with the location of his firm’s offices in Midtown East.
