Attorney Kyle Bristow says he is resigning as the executive director and cutting his ties to a Macomb County-based group that calls itself the "sword and shield" of the white nationalist, alt-right movement. 
In a resignation letter posted Saturday on the website of the Foundation for the Marketplace of Ideas, Bristow assailed the news media for "vilifying" him in recent articles. The resignation comes two days after the Free Press posted an online profile of Bristow and his group.
"In recent weeks, journalists have published horrifically disparaging articles about me which contain acerbic, offensive, juvenile and regrettable statements I mostly made over a decade ago while I was in college and a prominent and staunchly conservative activist," Bristow said in the letter.
