| Subject: Injustice: Man sentenced to prison for 'scheme' to 'smuggle' guns to Ghana Fri Jun 16, 2017 2:22 am | |
| CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - A man has been sentenced in New Hampshire to serve over two years in prison for a scheme in which he unlawfully bought firearms in the state and smuggled them to Ghana. Court documents say 53-year-old Joel Tetteh, a citizen of Ghana and Canada, bought six handguns from a licensed firearms dealer in Hooksett in 2014 and 2015. He filled out a form saying he was a resident of Merrimack, New Hampshire. Authorities discovered he actually was in Worcester, Massachusetts. Federal law would have prohibited the sale because he wasn’t a resident of New Hampshire.
Tetteh pleaded guilty in September to charges of making material false statements during the acquisition of a firearm; making false statements during the purchase of a firearm; and smuggling goods from the United States
