| Subject: Body Count review: Ice-T keeps his cool as he rages against poLice brutality Mon Jun 05, 2017 9:59 pm | |
| He may be a legend in hip-hop and a reputable TV star but, 30 years on from his arrival in the world of entertainment, Ice-T is still pissed off.
Lucky, then, that he has his own heavy/thrash metal outfit to channel his rage, and lucky for us he's brought Body Count to Australia for the first time since the mid-1990s.
Let's be clear: this is not music for everyone. It's brutally loud, ruthlessly profane and faster and more furious than a dozen cheesy car-chase movies.
It is also, for a band that cites the "precision of Slayer" as one of their inspirations, often rough around the edges – but a) Body Count can play the raw punk-rock card there, and b) in a set so uniformly invigorating, that's ultimately easy to forgive.
They start by establishing their credentials with a tribute to Slayer in the ferocious Raining in Blood/Postmortem, all double kick-drums and pulverising riffs, before pounding through their own greatest moments.
