| Subject: Good: Airbnb sues San Francisco over new law requiring hosts to register Tue Jun 28, 2016 4:20 am | |
| Airbnb, the short-term rentals startup valued at $25.5 billion, is suing San Francisco after the city passed legislation that would penalize it for unregistered hosts. Under the new regulations, companies such as Airbnb that have listings by unregistered hosts as of July 27 would face fines and possible criminal charges.
Airbnb, which is headquartered in San Francisco, is seeking an injunction against the new law, arguing that the measure violates federal laws protecting Internet privacy. The suit was filed in the U.S. District Court of Northern California.
