| Winter is just around the corner which means the cold and flu season is well and truly upon us.
The challenge is to spread the message that there are tools readily available.
The symptoms are obvious; a runny nose, a sore throat, a persistent cough and headaches to name a few. Inevitably, many will succumb to the bug and sensibly, will see a doctor or pharmacist for treatment advice, and take time away from work to recuperate.
Of course, this is a typical and pragmatic approach to getting back to full health, before returning to the demands of daily life without the burden of illness getting in the way.
Sadly though, when it comes to mental illness, the symptoms and treatment options aren't as obvious as those of the common cold. So instead of seeking help and possibly taking time away from work to get better, many Australians push their mental health issues and symptoms to one side and battle on alone. And just like any other illness, left untreated, these symptoms more often than not, only get worse.
