| Subject: Destructive statist filth: Kenya To Take Part In Historic Ivory Burn Sat Apr 30, 2016 2:57 am | |
| Kenyan authorities will turn a massive ivory graveyard into a bonfire on Saturday. The country will torch 105 metric tons of ivory and 1.35 metric tons of rhino horn in Nairobi National Park as a show of force against poachers and traffickers who are wiping out the country’s elephants and rhinos.
It’s an unprecedented burn: according to CNN, the tusks, from about 8,000 elephants, would be worth more than $105 million on the black market, while the rhino horn, from 343 animals, would be more than $67 million. The combined sum is more than one and a half times what Kenya spends on its environmental and natural resources agency every year.
