That was Professor John McAdams' response to Charlie Sykes Friday when asked whether he will admit guilt and apologize for writing a blog post in 2014 that revealed an instructor on campus was suppressing free speech in her classroom.

Marquette University President Michael Lovell announced Thursday that Professor John McAdams would be suspended for the Fall 2016 semester and would only be reinstated upon admission of guilt. McAdams was suspended after reporting on his blog, the Marquette Warrior, that a student provided him with audio recordings of another instructor telling the student that traditional views on marriage were banned in her classroom for fear of offending other students.

McAdams criticized the professor for stifling the viewpoint of a student - a viewpoint held by the Catholic Church at a Catholic university. But the University deemed McAdams' blog post a violation of the code of conduct and an act of bullying.

"It says that Marquette doesn't much respect academic freedom, at least not for conservative professors," said McAdams. "It reminds one of the Inquisition."

The Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty (WILL) issued a statement Thursday that said the ruling was "inimical to academic freedom." WILL also called the requirement that McAdams admit his guilt a "self-abasement and compelled speech."

McAdams has two weeks to consider his options and admit guilt to the university. He was interviewed Wednesday by Charlie Sykes at Insight 2016.
