| The label has baggage. It might be one of the most propagandized labels in human history. After all… the implication is that ‘rulers are not necessary’.
Politicians lie, cheat, steal, assault, kidnap, cage, torture and murder to gain personal wealth and power… and humans in general will do far more to avoid ‘losing’ than they will to ‘gain’.
I can understand a rejection of the label… and to be honest I’m not a fan of labels. There is the problem of being dismissed by assigning a label to yourself that people have already ‘rejected’; ‘Oh… he’s an anarchist… no need to listen any further’. So, I find it better to try to avoid labels. I believe in the scientific method, logic and reason… so anarchy is logically correct and having rulers imposed on you is logically false.
Even if you don’t consider yourself an anarchist (a minarchist perhaps)… most of your life… is lived in anarchy. The State does not tell you what career to choose. It doesn’t tell you who to date or marry. It doesn’t tell you to have kids or how many. It doesn’t tell you what hobbies you should have. It doesn’t tell you when or what to eat. It doesn’t tell you where to live or where to vacation.
To the point, you don’t need rulers… you don’t need people to tell you what to do (backed by a death threat) EVER!
Not yet convinced? Still want rulers? That’s still fine. You can pick whomever you’d like to be your ruler… and grant them any right you have. That… is anarchy.
The problem comes in… when you attempt to impose your ruler on others.
Participating in a system… when you know the result will be an imposition of a ruler… on those that do not want to be ruled… is a criminal act. You become a conspirator… joining with the rulers to commit the worst crimes in human history… in an ongoing, systematic, organized manner.
So, there it is. You are an anarchist… or you… are a criminal.

| While I sympathize with his sentiment, the following is simply not true:

It doesn’t tell you who to date or marry. It doesn’t tell you to have kids or how many. It doesn’t tell you what hobbies you should have. It doesn’t tell you when or what to eat. It doesn’t tell you where to live or where to vacation.
The gimmicky nonsense that one hears from time to time, such as 'most of your life… is lived in anarchy' is false. There is no area of human action which isn't covered by legislation of one sort or another. Quite the contrary, it's more like living in a concentration camp, where some activities are permitted and others are forbidden.
Or this: 'The State does not tell you what career to choose' Sure it does. The state gives you the permitted, limited selection from which to 'choose' and that's it. You can not go outside that particular limited range. You also typically can't practice without a license and which you can't just buy off the shelf, but must obtain as the state orders you to.
Or this: 'It doesn’t tell you who to date or marry.' Of course it does. Try dating your sister or mother or your own child... or how about an underage person... what about marrying, say, 7 women and 2 other men, at the same time and so on... If you're a doctor, say, you can't hit on your patients... if you're a teacher, you can't hit on your pupils, etc...
Or this: 'It doesn’t tell you what hobbies you should have.' Oh yes it does. Again, only permitted activities are allowed. Don't believe me? Try building bombs for a hobby and see what happens to you. Try hunting animals without a permit because it's your hobby and see what happens to you, etc.
Or this: 'It doesn’t tell you to have kids or how many.' If you're mentally retarded, the state may not permit you to even have one child, let alone many. It also won't let you have kids with close relatives or the underage, or other mentally limited individuals. The state may not bark at you directly to have kids, but there are many powerful incentives for you to do so, as the state requires continual production of new slaves to replace the ones which are dying off, killed, incapacitated, sick and so on...
And as for the last three errors: 'It doesn’t tell you when or what to eat. It doesn’t tell you where to live or where to vacation.' I'm sure you can work it out for yourself...

| Here's a bit more from history as well:
- Quote :
- The relationship between class and clothes is a particularly British phenomenon, dating back to the days of Chaucer. The cut of your cloth has always mattered here.
Never was this truer than in the 16th Century, when to preserve their position in the social order, the Elizabethan aristocracy enforced legislation called the Sumptuary Laws to put the rising merchant classes in their place.
The Sumptuary Laws reinforced social divisions by governing what a person could eat, wear, and even be, based on their class.
A king could eat 24 dishes at dinner and wear the colours of his choice.
A noble could eat 16 dishes but the only purple he could wear was on his garters.
Meanwhile a peasant found outside his parish of birth without a job could be tied up and flogged.
Shakespeare’s theatres posed a threat too, as it was thought that allowing commoners to dress freely would give them ideas above their station and so threaten the social order. Shakespeare’s own uncle once forgot to wear his cap to church one day and was duly fined—every male who was not a gentleman had to wear one. Of course, only an Oxbridge graduate could be a gentleman.
Yet class continues to divide British society. http://fee.org/articles/how-capitalism-is-abolishing-class/ |
