A Connecticut jail guard assaulted a mailman while screaming “n----r” after the Postal employee peed near the drunk off-duty jailer’s home Saturday, police said.

Witnesses saw Daniel Alvarado, 43, punching the 23-year-old U.S. Postal Service employee, smashing his head into the ground and pointing a handgun at his stomach around 4:30 p.m., police told the Waterbury Republican American.

Alvarado, a correctional lieutenant, hit the black mailman, Roshane Thompson, in the face while on top of him and yelled out racial slurs, police said. A woman who told WTIC-TV she dialed 911 described the beating of Thompson.

“All the poor kid was doing was apologizing to this guy,” she said. “He still wouldn't let him go. He literally wanted to kill him.”
