A New Zealander who recorded himself confronting an Auckland police officer has admitted he should have handled the situation differently.

In a video shared on social media, a man can be heard threatening to place the officer under citizen's arrest for driving poorly.

"Cut it out. You guys can't break the law, man," the man says.

"We're all equal. I'm going to take some action against that. I have your badge number. I will be in touch, my friend.

"Not cool, not cool. I should be doing a citizen's arrest,"
