| Subject: That's the (materialistic) spirit: 2 five-year-old boys dug hole under school fence and set out to buy a sport car Thu Sep 10, 2015 5:17 am | |
| In a story worthy of a movie script, two Russian children dug their way out of kindergarten using plastic spades hoping to buy a sports car.
Planning their escape for several days, the boys, aged five, dug a hole under the fence at their kindergarten in the city of Magnitogorsk in the Urals region.
AFP cited the Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper saying the escape was confirmed by Chelyabinsk regional interior ministry.
"We don't have any details yet, we can only confirm the fact itself," a spokesman told AFP.
The boys disappeared during a supervised walk of the school grounds. It took half an hour before the school realised they were missing.
The pair walked two kilometres to a car showroom before a female driver noticed the escapees.
Asking them what they were doing, they gave up their plan quite quickly to the woman, telling her they wanted to buy a Jaguar.
The only problem was they didn't have much money.
The woman reportedly took them to the police station.
The head of the pre-school department of Magnitogorsk, Olga Denisenko said according to Siberian Times, "This is a very serious breach of rules. The head of the group that allowed this to happen was fired.
"The acting head of the kindergarten has been given administrative notice".
The runaways were returned unharmed to their parents, who have not filed formal complaints.
