| Subject: Leftist filth barking instructions: The dos and don'ts of talking about Caitlyn Jenner and other transgender people Fri Jun 05, 2015 3:36 am | |
| This week, in case you missed it, Caitlyn Jenner basically broke the internet by revealing her authentic self via an incredibly glamorous Vanity Fair magazine cover.
It's a huge moment for transgender visibility, and hopefully, acceptance – and it sparked a lot of heartfelt and touching messages of support from celebrities of all walks, as well as regular folk on social media. Unfortunately, being the media storm that it was, it also sparked a lot of negative and ignorant comments from all corners of the globe.
The ignorance, confusion and transphobia brought out by Jenner's 'big reveal' reminds us that there is still a long way to go towards a truly supportive and accepting public discourse, even among apparently well-meaning commentators. It's frustrating because, with a bit of education and awareness, it shouldn't be that hard to get it right.
