Everything's a Racket Vide

This is a rather unusual book. It is neither an academic treatise, nor a political propagandist's screed. Instead, it resembles a clear, concise and cogent Internet rant. The author makes a number of assertions that contradict conventional wisdom, but seem intuitively obvious in retrospect.

Everything's a Racket 41kMFou-iqL._SL500_BO1,204,203,200_

Mr. Beaumont defines the essence of racketeering as a means by which the lazy and incompetent seek to gain something for nothing. Among the racketeers are governments, religions, economists, businessmen, law enforcement, and the military. America, he says, is riddled with rackets, perhaps more than any other country on Earth. And judging by the fact that the top 5% possessing more than half of all the country's wealth, while the fourteen trillion dollar national debt is place firmly on the backs of taxpayers and their children, I have to agree.

If there is any shame about this book, it is that is isn't more well known, better recognized, and given greater respect as a landmark work of liberating sensibility. Seldom do we come across a work such of brilliance and truth that we are astonished at its inexplicable obscurity. Perhaps this is the kind of impolitic honesty and revelation for which John was beheaded and Jesus crucified.

If you hope to understand how America came to ski blithely down the slope of imperial decline and into the awaiting arms of impending oblivion, you must read this book, and do so before it is too late for all of us.
