| Subject: More filth from that OZschwitz slave pen: Putting rubbish bins out early could attract fines of up to $1500 Wed Apr 08, 2015 3:54 am | |
| Residents who put their rubbish bins out early could be fined up to $1500 under a north suburban council's proposed new bylaw.
Darebin Council has come under fire for proposing to fine residents who leave bins out more than 24 hours before collection, or fail to bring them in in a timely manner.
The northern suburbs council said bins being placed well before collection day had resulted in complaints from residents about their street looking untidy.
Under the proposed bylaw, a first offence would attract a $500 fine - the maximum a Victorian council can charge. An unpaid fine that ends up in the Magistrates Court could cost residents up to $1476.10.
