28-year old Guillaume Dumas didn't want to pay a fortune for a university degree he wasn't sure about. So he dropped out and did this instead.

Not many people can boast about an Ivy League education from multiple universities.
But not only did one young man do the rounds at the likes of Stanford, Yale, Brown and Berkeley, he did it entirely for free.
According to Fast Company, 28-year-old Canadian man Guillaume Dumas travelled from one university town to the next for four years of his life, attending lectures and participating in animated debates with professors.

Most of the time Dumas kept it a secret that he wasn’t enrolled, especially after experiencing anger from some people who weren’t so receptive to the idea.
Dumas was surprised that of all people, a professor of socialist history at Berkeley became angry when he discovered Dumas was ‘freeloading’.
Despite never earning an actual degree, Dumas doesn’t regret his four-year learning stint.

In fact he says that society overvalues the importance of a degree.
Instead what Dumas did get out of attending these universities was rigorous debate and networking – and he got both of those things for free.
"There is nothing like the culture of the university," he told Fast Company. "Being exposed to people from different walks of life and new ideas is so valuable."

And despite not having a degree to his name, Dumas in now a successful entrepreneur.
"Starting a business is all about your intelligence and your network," he told Fast Company. "None of your customers care where you went to college.
His dating startup Datective helps wealthy people navigate the world of online dating.
