A terminally ill cancer patient has been forced to lie on the floor of a Gold Coast Hospital because of a shortage of beds.

It comes as the Premier highlights health as a major achievement for his Government.

It's the picture that's shocked those who've seen and shared it - cancer patient Amanda Veitch sought help from Gold Coast University Hospital on Saturday.

Instead of being given a bed, she was forced to the floor.

"My terminally ill sister Amanda Veitch laying on the emergency room floor of the Gold Coast University Hospital," The Facebook post read, posted on behalf of the patient's sister Lisa Maree.
