As much as everyone loves The Tonight Show's shiny happy host Jimmy Fallon, monologues have never been his strong suit. But his hit and miss attempts have always been endearing, if only because he makes up for it with his trademark 'I totally stuffed up' giggles.

But this week, Fallon finds out the hard way that his audience isn't always so forgiving -- especially when it comes to gender-based jokes. And doubly so if it's made at Hillary Clinton's expense.

On Monday night's episode of The Tonight Show, Fallon mentioned Chelsea Clinton's recently-announced pregnancy in his opening monologue and joked, "If it's a girl, it'll get some of Chelsea's old hand-me-downs, and if it's a boy, it'll get some of Hillary's."

The gag did NOT go down well. Audience started booing immediately, and even in his attempt to resurrect it by explaining "It's a little pantsuit! It's a little cream pantsuit," no one was amused at the 'masculine wardrobe' chestnut.
