A 12-year-old asthmatic Canadian boy died after being unable to use his inhaler at a school which has a policy of confiscating them.

Sandra Gibbons has spent the past year lobbying to have Canadian policies on inhalers changed to allow students to carry them.

Mrs Gibbons says Ryan's school's policy on inhalers claimed his life.

She said his friends had to carry him to the principal's office to get his inhaler because the school has a policy banning students from carrying them.
