A former fiancée has been hit with a $55,000 bill after his ex-partner successfully sued him for "breach of promise".

Melissa Cooper took her former partner Christopher Kelley to court after she left him for cheating on her, according to Courthouse News.

Kelley proposed to Cooper back in 2004 and gave her a ring worth around $11,000.

Cooper had also left her job to take care of their child together, along with another child from Kelley's previous relationship.
