A couple who won millions in the US Lotto have described the “curse” of their newfound riches.

New Jersey man Willie Seeley was one of 16 Oceans Country garage workers who became known as the ‘Ocean’s 16’ after winning $450 million (US).

However, just a month after receiving the windfall and declaring he was “very happy, happy, happy”, Mr Seeley says he has a sense of regret over his change in fortune.

“There are days I wish we were back to just getting paid every two weeks,” Mr Seeley told NBC News.

“You have to change your whole way of life, but we didn’t want to change the way we lived. We liked the way we lived.”

Mr Seeley said he had found it difficult to adjust to the “nonstop drama” following his appearance in the media over the win.

“Would you want a camera following you around all day when you finally have the time to go hunting and fishing and do all the things you wanted to do?” he said.

While the couple will not return the cash, his wife Donna refers to the win “the curse”.

NBC reports Mr Seeley became a crowd favourite after the win with his cascading beared, tinted shades and battered straw hat.

He spoke publicly about his plans to watch NASCAR races and buy a log cabin on several acres of land.

Mr Seeley appeared on NBC’s Today the next morning where he declared he would fish and hunt as much as he wanted to.

“We can do what we want,” he said.

Mr Seeley has since shared some of the cash with family and helped fund cancer treatment for his father.

The couple have also splurged on a Chrysler and a GMC pick-up and repaired their home which was damaged by Hurricane Sandy.

Mr Seeley has also purchased his dream home buy buying a cabin on 15 acres of land where he hopes to shut out the many people who have become interested in him since he won Lotto.
