| Subject: Funny: Mercedes-Benz running over a young Adolf Hitler Wed Aug 28, 2013 3:15 am | |
| Mercedes-Benz has hit out at a fake advertisement that features one of its cars running down a young Adolf Hitler.
The short video - created by a group of German film students - highlights the C-Class's auto-braking technology, with the tag-line "detects dangers before they arise". The punchline is revealed after the car avoids impact with two innocent girls, but then runs down a young boy.
The ad, developed by three film students, has raised the hackles of the car brand, which has labelled the video "inappropriate", and it says it is "not amused".
"Mercedes sells its cars on smart technology which prevents accidents – we wanted to pose the question of what might happen if technology had a soul," said the video's director, Tobias Haase. Advertisement
