| From artificial intelligence to digital file sharing, this year's Melbourne International Film Festival includes provocative films that examine some of the philosophical questions surrounding technology.
One of these films, Computer Chess, is set during a weekend computer chess tournament in the 1980s. Computers are pitted against each other to see which one is best at chess. It's a warm, engaging film, with great affection for the eccentricities unique to computer programmers.
The film also examines the subject of machine intelligence. In one late-night scene, the participants debate whether humans are learning from computers or if computers are learning from us.
