| The campaign against recognising local government in the constitution will receive one twentieth of the public funding allocated to the referendum ''yes'' case.
Local Government Minister Anthony Albanese has announced the ''no'' case will receive $500,000 from the federal government.
The ''yes'' case will have $10 million to spend on a campaign to convince voters to back the election day referendum on September 14.
The Australian Local Government Association, which supports constitutional recognition for councils, will contribute a further $10 million. Advertisement
The funding model is a departure from the last referendum in 1999 when the yes and no cases were given $7 million each to fight out the question of making Australia a republic.
