| THE stood-down principal of Australia's premier indigenous school has today been charged with two fraud-related criminal offences totalling $8.9 million after a long police investigation.
Jean Illingworth, the former head of Djarragun College, this morning fronted police headquarters in Cairns, where she was charged with two offences: a charge of fraud, under Queensland's criminal code, and one count of obtaining property by deception, under Commonwealth criminal legislation.
In a statement, Queensland Police confirmed Ms Illingworth, 65, from Kuranda, west of Cairns, is alleged to have dishonestly obtained approximately $3.5m from the Queensland government and $5.4m from the federal government.
