FIVE Defence Department contractors have allegedly breached procurement guidelines by making offers such as cash payments to the department's staff.

The gifts were offered in the past financial year.

One employee was fined and reprimanded for being involved in one of the cases, the department said. During a construction project, a contractor offered a cash benefit to a section within the department, which did not accept it.
