| The web can be a valuable source of knowledge, but as everybody knows, it’s also full of inane, incorrect and often painful rambling.
So imagine if you could find a rebuttal for any argument you find?
Rbutr - an app built by New South Wales-based entrepreneur Shane Greenup, 31, and coder Craig O'Shannessy - crowd-sources counter-arguments on a range of subjects. Using Rbutr, you can read any comebacks already added by Rbutr users or type a new one, spreading your knowledge.
The spark for the critical thinking app, which debuted in February, was an obscure online scientific report that Greenup wanted to debunk. Advertisement
Soon, his start-up, which now has Scientific American columnist Michael Shermer on board as an advisor, "exploded", Greenup says. In April, the news site Ventureburn named Rbutr one of the 10 start-ups capable of changing the face of news. Rbutr is also among the finalists for a $250,000 prize offered by the media innovation contest Knight News Challenge.
