| Subject: Six hours of housework per day may reduce risk of breast cancer: study, so work bitches, work Wed Sep 05, 2012 3:10 am | |
| Those who are extremely physically active can reduce their risk of breast cancer by 13 per cent - but they have to do six hours of housework per day, the researchers said.
Even moderately active women, defined as completing three hours of gardeng per day, reduced their risk of the cancer, by around ten per cent.
Women who do two-and-a-half hours of housework or walking or three hours of gardening per day reduce their risk by around six per cent.
Researchers said the findings were particularly important because doing more exercise was a relatively simple way of reducing cancer risk.
The findings were based on 257,805 women, across Europe who are part of the massive European Prospective Investigation of Cancer (EPIC) study, funded by Cancer Research UK.
