THE controversial injury lawyer Russell Keddie has admitted professional misconduct by ''grossly overcharging'' a paraplegic client and failing to adequately supervise his staff.

These admissions came on the eve of the disciplinary hearing and more than two years after initial action by the Legal Services Commissioner, Steve Mark, against Mr Keddie and others in his firm, now part of Slater and Gordon.

Mr Keddie admitted the bill - which totalled about $820,000 - contained ''mistakes, errors and duplications'' and was more than $215,000 too high. It included costs for which no invoices were available and duplicate charges for work done for the client's husband and son.
