A new colorful, professionally produced online libertarian newsletter just hit the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex.

The Libertarian Party of Dallas County (LPDC) has launched a newsletter named, appropriately enough, LPDC Newsletter.

The first issue, already posted online, was initially distributed in emails as an attachment in PDF Format. It features news from the Dallas County and DFW-area LP precinct conventions, commentaries on how to win elections and on how losing elections can be just as important, an essay on the origins of a national bank, a personal reflection on what it means to be a moderate libertarian, events, links, info, and a Dallas Libertarian Examiner article.

Curry Taylor, newly elected Vice Chair of the LPDC at the recent Precinct Convention, is the newsletter's Editor/Publisher.

Taylor explained to the Dallas Libertarian Examiner how the newsletter came about.

"A few meetings ago at the LPDC marking committee meeting I brought up the idea, and everybody liked it, and I was given the go-ahead." He adds, "I volunteered for the job which I suggested."

For now, the first issue is being distributed to LPDC members as an attached PDF file, but once it's published on the LPDC website the link can be posted on Facebook, Twitter, Meetup and other social media.

There are also plans for an ink-on-paper edition.

"The print version will be handed out at various events at first by myself as my budget allows," Taylor said, "but of course anybody can print out as many copies as they want to distribute for whatever other events. The marketing committee hasn't yet decided on any additional action with regard to print."

Taylor has two primary goals for his creation.

First, it will serve as sort of an in-house organ for libertarians who can't participate in all of the party's activities but still want to keep up with events.

Second, it will act as a quality handout to non-libertarians. "The newsletter can be given to a socialist organization or an anti-gay rights group and, even if they don't care to read it, it will still give an aura of professionalism to represent our organization, and may even get one or two people to think again about liberty."

"Submissions are open to anyone," Taylor said, adding, "the articles can be on just about anything" as long as they're LPDC or libertarian-related.
