| Kyle Sandilands has breached decency standards and his comments made last year about a journalist were deeply derogatory and offensive, the media authority has found as it begins steps to impose a new licence condition on 2Day FM.
If the media authority is successful in its bid Sandilands will be prevented from broadcasting any material that is likely to demean women or girls or his employer Southern Cross Austereo will face hefty fines, criminal proceedings or even a loss of licence.
ACMA chairman Chris Chapman said his agency's relationship was with 2Day FM - the licence holder - and not with Sandilands himself - an admission that there is little the authority can do to rein in the controversial host who has a history of transgressing the radio industry code of practice.
