After witnessing the upheaval his parents suffered when they became bankrupts, Marc* never thought he would get into financial trouble himself. He was good with money and had never owned a credit card.

But now, at 23 and with his finances out of control, Marc, from Lake Macquarie, says he has no choice but to file for bankruptcy. ''I'm going to have to file because I don't have a job to pay my debts.''
