An English police officer has crashed a high-performance unmarked car during a “test drive” in the wee hours of the morning.

The BBC reports that Manchester Police are considering changes to their driving policy after a policeman wrote off a VW Golf R on Old Trafford Way, a road that passes by the famous Old Trafford stadium, home of Manchester United.

The $50,000 hot hatch was barely recognisable after the crash, and the policeman was treated at hospital for his injuries. Reports suggest he lost control of the cover on a roundabout. No other vehicles were involved.
