Lotus says it can outbuild and outsell Ferrari by 2017.

The British sports car manufacturer’s CEO and former Ferrari employee, Dany Bahar, says that despite the brand’s relatively low current output of approximately 2500 cars per year, its upcoming range of new models over the next six years will allow the brand to sell more models than the well-known Italian brand, which sold 6573 cars in 2010.

Bahar says Lotus’s new model range – which will consist of five all-new sports cars and a Proton-based city car by 2017 – is larger than other niche brands because the Lotus brand on its own isn’t strong enough to subsist with just a couple of models.
