| IN LATIN, ''Deus Ex Machina'' speaks of God and machine.
But on Parramatta Road in Camperdown, the motorcycle, bike and surfboard business of the same name, does not run the show - local councils do. It has been ordered to stop popular monthly swap meets because of noise concerns from residents new to the much-maligned strip.
The events, where enthusiasts can swap, buy or borrow surfboards, motorbike parts and bicycles, have been held in the open-air garage for the past five years.
The general manager, Ben Monroe, said while the company would co-operate with the City of Sydney council, the events were held during business hours, brought the community together and raised money for charity.
''We are attracting people to the site … it is good for the city,'' he said.
''The motorbikes make a little bit of noise, but when you are on the six lanes of hell known as Parramatta Road, they are probably the least of your concern.''
