| Subject: OZschwitz: Leftist CSIRO staff blackmail their employer with rolling strikes Tue Mar 15, 2011 4:46 am | |
| CSIRO staff will kick-start a series of two-hour rolling strikes this week and are threatening further action if their pay demands are not met.
About 500 people will be involved in the first five stop-works, which begin today at various CSIRO research centres in Victoria and NSW.
But the figure could rise to more than 2000 union members if industrial action continues into the following week, Staff Association spokesman Sam Popovski said.
"We hope it sends a clear signal to management about our resolve," he told AAP yesterday.
"There's room for CSIRO to move, so this is a last resort - and we don't take it lightly, it hasn't been done in recent history."
Staff are seeking a 4.6 per cent pay rise, but the CSIRO executive are holding out for a three per cent per annum increase over three to four years.
