| Amazon Review:
The virtue of this book lies in the fact that it doesn't attempt to construct a complicated polemic, intent on dazzling its readers--while, in actuality, simply causing their eyes to glaze over.
Instead, it presents you with 213 bite-sized, loosely related aphorisms. In this way, rather than attempting to persuade through brute-force argument, the book sends your mind on its own journey, to puzzle out implications on its own. I leave it to you to decide the effectiveness of this approach. You may or may not agree with what Thornton presents, but either way, he'll make you think, which is always a good thing.
Here are a few of my favorite items in the book:
#6: "When you advocate any government action, you must first believe that violence is the best answer to the question at hand."
#27: "Voluntary transactions increase the wealth of both parties."
#209: "Belief in government is the superstition that some magical power endows certain men with the right to use violence against others. The fear of anarchy is the secret conviction that violence is the best way for a person to get what he wants."
